Last night was the final episode of Season Two of the Next Food Network Star in which viewers votes that were called in, emailed in, or text -messaged in were tabulated to determine the winner.
I didn't watch the series, and in fact, I'm not embarrassed to say I didn't watch one full episode, but I did watch the finale, as I had a little bit of California pride. Both finalists, who were announced last week, Guy Fieri and Reggie Southerland are from California. Guy owns several restaurants in Santa Rosa (northern California), and Reggie lives and works in Silverlake in Los Angeles. Either way, West Coast would represent.
Congratulations to Guy for becoming the Next Food Network Star. His series will premiere in late June.

Reggie was much more down to earth and "real" and has had alot less success than Guy. I thought that Reggie winning would have had a much greater impact in his life than in Guy's.
Sorta like the difference between me winning the lottery and some millionaire winning it.

Sarah! Have you turned against the Food Network or just the show in general? I thought the show was fun and the competitors showed a lot of heart. Where's the hate coming from?

Ugh!

I think this would have a been a positive life altering experience for Reggie; he so deserved this. He was fun, personable, and really seemed to enjoy being there. I almost feel that for Guy this was a "let me prove to my buddies how cool I am" challenge. I am going to have breakfast at Reggie's restaurant in a couple of weeks; I can't wait. I just want to give him a big hug!!

I would have voted for Reggie, had I watched any episodes other than the last one.

Guy is a Emeril duplicate.

Reggie brought an almost comedic atmosphere to the game. I could hardly wait for his next shoot. I watched every episode. I voted for Reggie. I wish I lived on the west coast so that I could visit the cafe where he works. I'd give him a big hug and tell him that I think he should have won. I will not be watching Mr. "I have 3 restaurants and I'm about the open the biggest one yet" Guy. He seems like a nice guy and a family man, and I could tell that loves his son, Hunter. He's already taken the risk and made the dough. I just liked the underdog. I would have liked Reggie's shows.

Guy appears to be a hard-nosed salesman who just wants to razzle-dazzle the crowd. It might be a good idea for the FN to have more representation in ethnic food and be hosted by someone from that community. There has been too many reruns of yesteryear's 'Food Network Challenge'. Even Emeril's 'bam' is getting a little stale.
