They do this every year, and it is loads of fun. In warm sunny areas, the line (which can take over an hour to reach the front of) is certainly not worth the money, but can be lots of fun.

Unfortunately, this always comes in April when I'm trying to get fit for summer ;). Saboteurs!

Originally from central Vermont and with relatives who lived in Waterbury, I've visited the "old home state" fairly often over the past four decades. One of the more pleasant experiences on these trips is to share the tour of the Ben & Jerry's plant (not far north from Waterbury on the road to Stowe) with friends who are travelling with me. The tours are conducted daily and are free, if memory serves. So, Ben & Jerry's, as a socially conscious company, does a lot more than its annual "free scoop" day. Vermont is a beautiful place to visit and, if your time allows, the tour can be a highlight!

I love Ben & Jerry and not because it comes from Vermont. I have questions on just where it is in Vermont. I used to spend summer's at my mom's cousin's farm outside of Springfield when we lived outside of Watertown, NY in the small town of Chaumont. We used to go to Vermont via the north part of the Adrondicks to catch the ferry that crossed Lake Champlain. We would go down and stop off at Cal's farm and get one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches. I wished that Ben & Jerry's was going back then in the late 50's & early 60's. So how would you send me to Ben & Jerry's when I make that trip this summer?

Ben & Jerry's has always been synonomous with a special treat that the warmer weather brings... It's part of our family tradition. With everything getting so expensive these days, I still can alot for an icecream to bring a smile on my face and thrill my taste buds...Uter contentment...Thanks

Ben and Jerry's in no doubt one of the best kinds of ice cream there is, but they should really have more selection on low-carb/low-calorie options. I'm always looking for healthier ice cream and there usually isn't any. But when there is it tastes awful!!! I need ice cream!

I think a low sugar variety would be a good idea.
More with fruit and nuts too like the Cherry Garcia which I think is the best one yet. As a senior citizen I can't afford to buy your ice cream too often but I love it.

WE USED TO VISIT BEAUTIFUL VERMONT, AND HAD PLANNED TO DO SO AGAIN THIS YEAR , AND, THE BEN AND JERRYS TOUR WAS ON OUR LIST (since that's the only ice cream we allow in our home :0) ) HOWEVER, WE'VE CHANGED OUR PLANS THIS YEAR. WEV'E DECEIDED NOT TO DO VERMONT AGAIN TILL THEY GET JESSICAS LAW INTO PLACE... SORRY TO GET POLITICAL.... BUT THE PEDOPHILE SITUATION IN VERMONT IS.... AND SHOULD BE... AN EMBARRASSMENT TO THE GOOD PEOPLE OF VERMONT !

If you are looking for Ben & Jerry's home base, it is in Waterbury Vermont. Just get on I-89 South in Burlington and head to Waterbury. There is only one exit. It is Vermont, you know. I go home every summer when the heat in So. Florida becomes unbearable and inevitably end up at B & J's for a summer treat.

I was born in New York State and have lived in California for many years...but I just had Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream yesterday and would love the chance to visit the plant in Vermont next time I am on the East Coast....it annoys me to see people use this space for political views....lighten up...it is about ice cream and if you want to talk politics find the right column for your viewpoint. The New England states are beautiful and the ice cream is terrific

I live in Vermont. I bought a baby size dish of chocolate ice-cream for my neice yesterday. $2.75. The tours are $4.00 and although interesting, too steep for my pocketbook. Sadly B& J was bought by Unilever and now its all about the money. They used to have a wonderful free concert every summer at Sugarbush but now that's been eliminated. I want my old Ben and Jerry's back.

Its all about the money now. $4.00 for the tour, $2.75 for baby scoop in a dish, and worst of all no more Ben and Jerry Festival at Sugarbush. Unilever bought B&J and proceeded to take the personality out of the company. Please come back to us B &J. We miss you.

I work for a Ben & Jerry's distributor and can tell you that they did come out with a few low carb flavors. Almost no one bought them. I had very few of my customers request them, and the ones that did, tried it once and never asked for it again. Not to say that B&J ice cream isn't good-I love it. However, it is hard to turn straw into gold. That is, you can't make a low carb ice cream and have taste good, too. They do have a lower calorie line called Body and Soul. Maybe those flavors will be what you want. Happy scooping!
