Last week, I tried the Klondike brand Slim-a-Bear Ice Cream sandwiches in my early stages of a search for a "diet" ice cream that I could include with my Spring, ahem, lifestyle change. It wasn't horrible, but the Slim-a-Bear definitely tasted like it was intended to taste - "light."
A couple of commenters recommended the Skinny Cow low fat ice cream sandwiches, which I promptly snatched up at my local market, and they were right - much better than the Slim-a-Bear. The chocolate cake part tasted about the same, but I don't think it's the sandwich part that ever really packs on the fat and calories. The ice cream part was better. It certainly didn't taste like a smooth and creamy ice cream - it had the texture of a slightly icy frozen yogurt, which is much better than the melted-refrozen airy sponge texture of the Klondike bars. At 140 calories each, not a bad "diet" treat.

I agree. My husband and I have replaced our nightly "bowl of ice cream" routine with an skinny cow ice cream sandwich instead.
They taste really good and no guilt!!!

I agree, the Skinny Cow brand has been the best diet treats I've ever tried, and I've tried most.

If you're looking for a 'lite' ice cream, try Breyer's 98% fat free ice cream and Tropicanca Swirls Vanilla Ice Cream Sorbet is also delish! (I reviewed both over at http://iateapie.net).

The Skinny Cow was part of my diet success when I lost 35 pounds a few years ago. I'd slice in half a vanilla one and a chocolate one, position the halves on the plate, puree a couple raspberries to drizzle on top and top that with just a touch of whipped cream. It seemed incredibly decadent but was very low calorie.

I'll throw in my $.02 and say that I like these, too. They're lighter than regular ice cream sandwiches and make a better snack on a hot afternoon.

Have you tried Blue Bunny Fudge Bars? Yum. Only 100 (or something close--don't actually have any close by right now), and they have potassium, unlike other brands. Rich and creamy! and portion controlled.

I've tried the Blue Bunny and I really like them, too. Another good one choice is the Health Smart Fudge and Vanilla Fudge bars. They're high in fiber (odd) but since I was/am doing a weight loss program that uses the fiber count to figure "points" it makes them zero points.
The biggest thing that's helped me has been learning what a normal portion is. Our portion sizes have become absolutely outrageous here in the U.S. and, although I was eating mostly healthy things, I was eating far too much of them.
Now that I have my portion control working, I'm mostly maintaining my weight. I try to eat really good, exciting, indulgent foods but keep the portions small.
