Easter gifts for the discerning chocolatier

If you, or somebody in your life, have a yearning for something just a bit more extravagant than the average Brach's bunny in your Easter basket, then the Chocolate Trading Co. is the place for you to shop this year. The shop, located in England, and the site, for chocoholics around the world, specialize in high end chocolate treats.

My favorite offering is the explosive chocolate bomb from Braquier. The description is quite English, giving the measurements in centimeters, a whopping 18 of them, and is made of chocolate with a 65% cocoa content.  It comes with its own plastic shield to deter any serious bodily harm to dinner guests. Once lit, the bomb quickly detonates to spray dinner guests with shards of chocolate and the shrapnel of chocolate dragees. Due to the explosive properties of the product, the bomb is not eligible for shipping outside of the country, it is only available in the U.K.

For more serene Easter afternoon, the Chocolate Trading Co. also offers such delights as a dark chocolate easter egg emblazoned with 22 carat gold and silver, nestled inside are gold speckled, dark chocolate and croquant mini eggs. This egg, minus the precious metal adornments, is also available in milk or white chocolate.

For most of us it is likely too late for our Bunny to get this delivered in time for this Sunday, but it definitely lends some good ideas for next year.

You might try Renaissance Chocolates in Colorado next time. Do you really know what kind of chocolate "the bomb" is made from?

It might taste great, but I'm more apt to purchase something that's fun and exciting for the recipient. At least as exciting as chocolate gets.

I have never been dissatisfied with any kind of chocolate from them. One of the best is the Creme Brulee chocolate. It's Godiva chocolate all the way.
In fact, I'll be right back.....I'm on my way to get some now.
