Earlier this week, Slashfood's Heather Craven mentioned
a study that linked the number of hours kids spend watching television to the amount of junk food they eat. As you might
expect, the more television kids watch, the more junk food they're likely to consume. The study, published in Public
Health Nutrition, is based on data collected from 11-, 13- and 15-year-olds by the World Health Organization in 2001
and 2002. Over 160,000 children in 35 countries were surveyed. Not only did the amounts of sweets and sodas that kids
ate rise with the amount of TV time, the number of fruits and vegetables they ate went down, according to recent story
in The Times.
