Make your own Peeps

williams sonoma make your own peeps

We're mildly obsessed with marshmallow Peeps here at Slashfood. Something about the nuclear power plant waste colors, the sparkly sugar on the outside, the fluffy air of nothingness inside that can either explode or actually be made into a brulee in your microwave...if you're into that sort of stuff.

If you want to be the ultimate Peeps fan, you should make them at home. Williams-Sonoma has a kit for $24 for making marshmallow chicks at home, complete with mold, marshmallow mix, and decorating sugar. You know, so you can make something...and then blow it up, just in time for the Easter basket!

I pass them up each Easter as i hold my teeth and feel a dull ache along them lol ( yes i used to be a big fan too long ago until i visited the dentist ) No wonder the kids go crazy during Easter, they have such a suger rush from those things. Keep On PEEPIN'

I could never get enough of them and simply adored Easter for this reason. I love them better when they are stale, but sometimes, I can't wait. A friend of mine at work and I like to unwrap them and leave them in our desks to allow them to "Bake" (as we say) so they can get stale. For years I thought I was the only one with this nutty obsession over the peeps. I'm glad to see that I'm not. All of my coworkers & family members know how much I love them. Sometimes, I eat them until I get a migraine! My husband thinks I'm nuts...when we go to the store, I load up on them and I don't like to share them with my kids! They have to beg me for them. Sometimes, when I wake up in the middle of the night, I'll pop one in my mouth and fall peacefully back to sleep!!
