The 12-year old Westwood farmers' market that has been providing fresh produce and food to the UCLA students, staff, and westsiders on Thursday afternoons has been told by the City to shut down.
The Los Angeles Fire Department has determined that the area that the market takes place, on Weyburn Avenue just east of Westwood Boulevard, is unsafe, as an enormous new mixed-use construction project is underway nearby.
Though LA has its fair share of farmers' markets, I've considered Westwood to be a pretty good one (aside from the horrible parking situation in Westwood Village). Now where will all those students get their enormous bags of Kettle Korn?

I wonder if it's just temporary until the construction is complete?
According to the article they've known for some time that they were going to have to relocate, but "A flier being passed around the market last Thursday warned of the market's closing and urged market patrons to contact Weiss's office to oppose the closure."
So they're going to try and play this up like it's something that's been sprung on them? That's what it sounds like to me, anyway. And of course there's going to be the obligatory protest. Sheesh. Buncha babies. They just need to find someplace else, that's all there is to it.
