We mentioned earlier that our sibling site, Engadget, had selected the winner in their "Bake a Birthday Cake for Engadget." The winner, who receives a grand prize of a very spacey looking Alienware contraption (I'm a food freak, not a gadget geek), baked a working Palm Treo cake.
Engadget has posted photos of all the entries over a series of posts. Take a peek - even some of the non-winning cakes are incredible!

My sister did the shiny green computer (Chyun G)! I'm the computer geek in the family and when I told her about this contest, she jumped at it because she bakes cakes professionally. Even though she didn't win, she was still happy that people thought so highly of her cake. Check out her work at www.sweet-gems.com . This is one of my favorite sites and I am so happy to see that you found her cake!

Mine was in the 3rd gallery, the cake with the cocolate circuit-boards. It was such a fun contest, and man - some people (like Drew's Sister up ther - she should have won!) really made some amazing cakes.

No, I'm happy the Treo cake won. I did have a bit of an advantage, being a professional baker. A lot of those cakes, made by young boys who've probably never even baked a cake, had tons of heart and soul! I was really impressed.
