If you're ever on the Westside of LA on a Saturday or Sunday morning, Bread and Porridge is a great little restaurant/cafe for breakfast or
brunch. Or if you partied hard last night, a late lunch.
The restaurant has recently expanded into the space next to it that used to be a small gift store, creating a living roomm-like space with leather couches and ottomans for diners to wait and drink coffee. Good thing, for the restaurant is so busy on weekend mornings with Santa Monica locals that a wait can be as long as 45 minutes.
The menu is a typical breakfast, brunch, and lunch menu with pancakes, French toast, eggs and omelettes, and sandwiches and salads. I've always gotten an omelette there, this last time, a Cajun one with spicy sausage, peppers, and cheese. It's a bit pricey, but quite delicious. Besides, if you're worried about spending too much, you should make breakfast at home.
