Artistry in bread has become quite fashionable lately (or is it just a fad?). First we saw bread baked/sculpted into a human body, and now we have pop-artist/designer Emma Green recreating Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa out of...toast.
It took the artist three days to toast 18 loaves of white bread which she then scraped to recreate the image. The portrait is 6 feet tall by 4 feet wide and uses 144 slices of toast. She even went so far as to use croissants to create a frame.
Unfortunately, there's no photo. I wonder how well the Mona Lisa tastes with a bit of marmalade.

An OK likeness. I think the toaster made of toast was done better:

Of course, with 2,500 pieces to work with rather than just 144 they had more to work with.
