Poitin (pronounced posheen) is the naughty stuff the Irish distilled illegally. Rough ain't the word.
Now in time for St.Patrick's Day a New Zealand distiller has created their own version which, as is sometimes quoted as an Irish tradition, will be sweetened with a little treacle. The Southern Distilling Company is also releasing a whiskey liqueur sweetened with manuka honey. They currently produced the internationally recognised Coaster Malt.
