We
always enjoy hearing about strange new soft drinks here at Slashfood, and the most recent one to show up on my radar is
Celsius. Its claim to fame is that its ingredients (which include caffeine)
increase your body's metabolism, thereby helping you burn calories. Elite FX, the Delray Beach, Fla. company that makes
Celsius, cites a study where the beverage was shown to increase metabolism by 12 percent over a three-hour period. They
say you can lose 17 pounds a year, just by drinking a bottle a day for a year. I'm always skeptical of ways to lose
weight without exercise, aren't you? Nevertheless, Celsius recently won "best new energy drink" from Beverage Industry Magazine, according to the Boca Raton News.Calorie-burning soft drink?

I know of a great calorie burning drink. It raises metabolism, increases energy and vitality and is considered gourmet by many. I call it, coffee. Seriously, there's some other appetite-control water on the market that claims if you drink a bottle before every meal, you'll lose weight. Well, DUH. If you drink a bottle of any water (unless it has butter or something blended in) before a meal, you'll eat less due to your stomach feeling full. I'm pretty skeptical about this. Call me crazy, but I think the best way to burn calories is to go excercise.

I can see the stock prices for this product rising way before the results of a bottle a day come in. (~$~) I'm somewhat overweight, and although this is tempting, I opt for water and exercise. 1 star for their effort.

a comment to a comment: (finished law school) who do you think you are? nothing thats who. do research before you start spouting off. lots of people are aware of diabeties these days and high cholesterol and are staying away from sugar and carbs. ever heard of artificial sweetners? also alot of heavy people are given perscription drugs to save lives and cure them only to find out the # 1 side affect is wieght gain due to the drug lowering metabolism. before they know it they've gained wieght and don't know why. if they can get off the drug they excercise and lose weight, others need the drug and can't lose the weight no matter how hard they try.

Say this drink costs $1 per bottle-$365 a year to lose only 17 pounds? For $365 you could get a membership to a really nice health club! It might be a great energy drink, but shouldn't be marketed for weight loss. People may be tempted to drink more than one a day in an effort to lose more weight, and that may cause health problems. There are a lot of people out there looking for the one product that will help them lose weight without diet or exercise. The key to weight loss is cutting calories-period!

For your information Mr. IGNORANT I am overweight, but I don't go for the first diet enticing stimulant that ends up on the market!! I have been dieting for about 3 weeks now, just like I did in High School and have lost 10 lbs. so far!! All I am using is that clear stuff that comes out of your faucet.... Do you know what that is smart a** and good old fashioned excercising!! Next time be careful of what you say before you open your mouth!! Not everyone out here is waiting for the next miracle diet drug, drink, or surgery!!

I guess I'd rather be obese than just flat obnoxious. Till you've walked in someone else's shoes, don't assume that you know what it takes to be in them. To wench, right. Cut calories, that's it, hmm? Not always a black and white, cut and dried resolution. I know this from my own life experience. I resent the encouraged persecution and stereotypes of folks who are heavy. This is the last bastian of prejudice. To the finishedlawschool person...you are a moron. Why don't you pucker up real tight and kiss my rosy FAT butt.

stupid obese people? must have not passed the bar exam eh pup? youll make a great ambulance chaser. I imagine that is how you keep fit, trim, and sexy. Oddly enough however, you went to the link about this softdrink story out of curiosity of the product. Isn't it ironic, don't you think? Wait, maybe I meant MORONIC. Now you know why people hate lawyers.

Holy smokes finishedlawschool! Can you explain to all of us "plain folk" who don't know any better exactly "why" you were reading up on this product? Could it have been that you were looking for your next law suit? Sad thing is, alot of my friends are attorneys and you are the type that gives them bad names, if you are an attorney, that is.
Oh, and for your information, no, I'm not overweight, but I have been before and I know how hard it is to "diet and exercise." Every little bit helps, even if it's just boosting your moral. Bottom line, love yourself and people will see the real you..not just an overweight person, and those who don't aren't worth knowing. JMHO

I am 17 year old and I have struggled with my weight all my life. I eat right and exercise and I still struggle with my weight and I am certainly not stupid I am finishing my senior year with a 3.8 GPA. So watch your mouth when talking about people who are overweight. You cannot compare someones weight to their intelligence. There are plenty of overweight people that do amazing things for society.

If I am drinking a coke everyday anyway...wouldn't it be worth it to switch to a soda with some benefit? I'm going to look into this one... And everyone...lighten up...life is too short and this is about a drink not world war or world peace...it's not even about the miracle cure for obesity...just something that could help if you are drinking sodas anyway... :-)
