The latest issue of Delicious Magazine supplied a recipe for a "Nuts About Nutty Tray Bake." Silly name but nice and.. ummm... nutty.
A mix of plain chocolate (50g), muscovado sugar (80g) and butter (100g) are melted and mixed with plain flour (225g) to form the base. Spread this out in a baking tin and bake for 15-20 minutes at 180C. Then a 300g mix of nuts (I used macadamia, hazelnut and walnuts but pistachios, cashews etc could be used) is coated with a melted mix of muscovado sugar (120g), Golden Syrup (40g) and butter (70g) that has had 1 tbsp of double cream stirred in. This is spread evenly over the base and baked for a further 10 minutes. Allow to cool.

Looks fantastic, sounds--strange. Would love to try making it, but would appreciate the measurements, and product names in American?

Andrew, they look fabulous and I'm going to be trying them soon!
T.Allen, here is a link to Clotilde Dusoulier's page on equivalents http://chocolateandzucchini.com/archives/2003/10/conversions_equivalents.php for conventional American measuring implements. And a scale which is so helpful for baking usually can be set to weigh out the metric quantities that Andrew specified.
I don't know where you're located or what resources you have in your area but India Tree and Billingham are companies that package muscovado sugar for sale in the US (it's a grocery store item in Canada). Ralph's grocery stores in CA and Whole Foods both carry it. I'm guessing Trader Joe's would too. If you can't find it locally, brown sugar is a good substitute.
Golden syrup doesn't have a very close equivalent in the US. It is, however, available at Whole Foods if you happen to have one available. I would bet The Baking Catalogue would have it too. If you wanted to come up with something locally, I guess what you might want to do is get white and dark corn syrup and mix them to a color that is a degree or two lighter than honey.
Andrew, are you familiar with American products? Does that sound about right to you?

You are too late David - my flat mate has nicked it all to share amongst her work colleagues tomorrow...
rainey - I think you are right but no idea what an equivalent of Golden Syrup would be.
