The internet is chock full of recipe sites ranging from the good to the bad. Usually, when I'm
researching a recipe, I use a combination of Google and my favorite recipe aggregation sites. The CookbookWiki
aims to collect all the world's culinary traditions and recipes into one wiki site. Wikipedia already does a good job
of covering food, but perhaps with CookbookWiki's tight focus, it can be an even more invaluable resource for chefs and
amateur cooks alike. They already have an aggressive development plan for the content. What do you think about
this resource?

Thank you for noticing! We are working really hard on 200+ new regions, trying to discover all their sub regions and write articles! Wew.. it's not easy! But new volunteers make it all worth while! If you know anyone willing to help... send them our way!

Woo!
I could see this being a great resource. Wikipedia does a decent job, but isn't nearly detailed enough. Being able to get detailed information on ingredients or classic dishes would be incredibly useful... a more extensive online version of Larousse Gastronomique, if you will.
My only hope would be that they try to focus on traditional dishes, and not open the door to 7,200 different versions of so-and-so's brown betty. There are plenty of recipe sites out there that already serve this purpose. I think this will be more valuable if it sticks to ingredients, equipment, techniques and single entries for traditional dishes rather than acting as a recipe catch-all.
But I assume there are those who would disagree.

I took a quick peek, but I guess I don't understand how it's set up. Thinking I'd look for a wide range of recipes from different regions for a single ingredient, I went to the search box on the left and typed in "pork".
All I got back was "The flesh of domestic swine." No links to recipes.

Per my read of the development plan, CookbookWiki looks to be an ambitious work in progress. I look forward to watching it grow.

Wow, this is absolutely terrible. I followed links to what I know, Italian cuisine. The recipes listed are some of the worst I have ever seen on the internet. Here are some examples: http://www.cookbookwiki.com/PIZZA_SKILLET That has to be the least Italian recipe I have ever seen. Peporoni Pockets ? with jar sauce, store bought pizza dough and VEGETABLE oil???? The Risotto recipe, with jar mushrooms? green pepper? whaaat?
The very least of the problems is the category overview. I have seen better writing from 3rd graders. Here is an example:
"Italian pizzas have thin crusts (exception made for Naples pizzas, which are thicker and soft) and are cooked in wooden ovens. Italian dressing (consisting of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper), pastries and coffee (espresso, cappuccino, macchiato) are the next best things.."
Did you read any of the recipes? I just am shocked at this site.

Well, it appears it is an international project. I believe the site has made a lot of progress from the looks of the VAST structure they are implementing. WOW. I say this site has potential. Maybe you could help them out since you know so much about Italian food!
I would be curious to see how things turn out for this site! I think it has greater potential than flaw. Look at wikipedia, I remember when their articles were just as bad, but now, they have a reputation fo rbeing accurate.

Good point, I should help them out. Almost every single Italian Recipe will have to be deleted and replaced.
I would love a site like this to work. I just hope people will come in and replace the bad recipes with good ones. If someone stumbles onto this site interested in a certain cuisine it should be accurate. I'm not complaining that some recipes are bad, I'm complaining that every recipe that I looked at was absolutely awful, off the mark and abysmal.

sorry for the double post, but I thought I would check out some more of the site. I headed over to the Mexico recipes. Again, these are not authentic, they are not someones interpretation of Mexican cuisine for the world, they are very poor recipes which will appeal to no one.
Its really the equivelant of saying - here's Italian cooking: Take a jar of Ragu and pour on top of microwave spagetti o's and there's your Italian. Or mexican: take a can of quacamole and a can of refried beans and layer that with tortilla chips and you have...... nachos! I am barely exagerating. I will try to clean some recipes up but I don't know if anything can save this many recipes with this same problem.
