You were
indecisive, procrastinated, or just plain forgot, but whatever your reason is, there is no denying that you are now
down to the wire in your Valentine's Day plans. Not to worry, though. A few candles and some delicious food will
have your Valentine's would-be icy heart melting in your hands.
A quick stop at the store can yield a pack of Jone's Valentine Sodas and a package of heart-shaped Fun Shapes cake pans. Soda and cake may not be the pinnacle of gourmet cooking, but a bottle of Love Potion #6 and a piece of your heart will no doubt still be appreciated. We won't tell if you use a cake mix - promise.
If home baking is more your style, try whipping up a batch of our romantically inclined cookies:
- Sarah's Blondie Hearts
- Nicole's Crisp Sugared Hearts
- Andrew's Chocolate and Walnut Cookies or his Chocolate-Dipped Orange Macaroons
- Nick's Raspberry Almond Thumbprints
- Heartbreaker Butter Cookies are delicious, but may not be the best choice to romance your Valentine. Try sandwiching some store bought cookies with strawberry ice cream - who could resist?
For last minute dinner arrangements, try calling a few restaurants to see if they have had any cancellations. Some people make multiple reservations and cancel at the last moment. You might get lucky. Otherwise, you might want to just grab a few ingredients for dinner while you are at the store to try one of our more savory menu options.
- Sarah's Potato and Porcini Soup is rich and silky
- Artichokes with Romesco Sauce have already won a few hearts
- Pork Chops with Gravy will satisfy meat lovers
- Stefania's Spaghetti con burro e pomodori is simple and romantic
If all else fails, there is always White Castle.
