Finally: Square bagels!

This new product is the greatest thing since, well, sliced bread.
Thomas' has just
introduced square bagels! It's part of their
Squares line. This is great news for someone like me, who is a big fan of using bagels for sandwiches. The
bagels are square, a little larger, and a little flatter than regular bagels - sort of like sandwich bread, only a
bagel. I don't like to toast my bagels when I use them for a sandwich. I like to make the sandwich (usually turkey with
swiss cheese, sometimes ham), and then put it in microwave for 30-40 seconds or so. It makes the bagel soft and warm
(not the hard, burnt around the edges taste), perfect for a sandwhich.

Ok, these look interesting. Thanks for the review! I like the idea of them being a little thinner than the round bagels, as sometimes those are too thick for me.

Eh, this is nothing new, really.
My local Brugger's Bagel Bakery has had square bagels for years.

Cozi, the sandwich chain in NYC has also had square bagels for at least two years, although I don't really remember when I first saw them so it could be longer. I'm guessing that they probably like to bake their bagels on a sheet pan and what fits better on a rectangular sheet pan than a square thing?

It's not even a bagel, it's "Bagelbread" with "the flavor of a bagel and the soft texture of bread"
Does someone want to tell them that bagels are about texture? If you leave out the boiling and low hydration level, it's just bread. Maybe if you spread it with some of that "American cheese food" it makes it somehow completely not what it claims to be.

Thomas makes good bagels! Hope they taste like the round ones. I love a good bagel any way I can get em!Though I will probably stick to the round ones, creature of habit. Nothing like a NY style chewy bagel with cream cheese, smoked salmon and red onion or tomato if its ripe.....LOL.............
