Unhealthiest recipe ever?

snicker's pie chef Worrall ThompsonThis particular dessert deserves a place of honor on the list of the worst foods you can eat. Snickers Pie, an ultra-rich dessert developed by Chef Antony Worrall Thompson (pictured), has over 1250 calories per slice and over 100 grams of fat. Though the chef himself has written a book advocating healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle, he insists that customers willingly and knowingly put taste before healthy in restaurants and that they deserve to "get their taste-buds tickled." He insists that the dessert is meant to be an occasional snack for children, but with over half the recommended daily amount of calories for an adult in each serving, it still seems difficult to recommend it. It's easier (and healthier) just to eat a Snickers bar alone.

Nevertheless, here's the recipe for those who are curious.

Snicker's Pie*
(recipe from BBC Food)
1 package puff pastry
140g/5oz mascarpone cheese
110g/4oz cream cheese
50g/2oz sugar (superfine, preferably)
3 eggs
5 Snickers bars, chopped up

  • Preheat the oven to 400F.
  • Roll pastry to 1/4 inch thick and use to line an 8in pie pan.
  • Beat the mascarpone cheese, cream cheese and sugar together in a large bowl, until smooth.
  • Beat in eggs, one at a time.
  • Add the Snickers bars and fold in.
  • Pour mixture into pie pan, spreading to the edges.
  • Place in the oven for 10 minutes, then lower temperature to 350F for a 25 minutes more, until golden and set.
  • Allow to cool before serving.

But occasionally eating a scrumptious dessert will not hurt you . I think it is the fast foods and the snacking which leads to weight gain and not getting excercise. Food is one of lifes pleasure just don't over indulge.

You don't have to eat a whole slice, just a half slice is OK and will satisfy you. So, don't feel guilty. Be happy and enjoy good food in your life.

Someone has way too much time on their hands. As far as the calorie count per serving, I wonder how big that is?? I notice that is not mentioned. Most restaurant portions are huge compared to what most people serve at home.

The real killer is the chemical garbage in our diet like preservatives, artificial colors, flavors and sweeteners (look up aspartame, it will shock you!) and severe nutrient deficiency. Unnatural = unhealthy, eating too much just contributes! By the way, that pie sounds outstanding!!! :)

You shouldn't keep yourself from eating what you like if it makes you happy. My diet soda that I drink a lot of is probably worse than this snicker pie for the aspartame that's in it. But I dont care as long as im stress free and my child is happy that matters much more to me.
