It looks like Krispy Kreme just can't break down the yogis and shirtless rollerbladers in southern California. The doughnut chain announced that it has terminated the license of southern California franchisee, Great Circle Family Foods, LLC, which runs almost 30 Krispy Kreme franchises.
However, it's not just southern California. The company seems to be slipping into its own sugary glazed hole. The details are a bit messy with lawsuits last year and overall failing business. Krispy Kreme has not reported any finacial statements since late 2004, and its stock share prices have fallen. Franchisees in Canada and Pennsylvania have declared bankruptcy.
Guess Paula Deen's Krispy Kreme bread pudding wasn't enough to keep the stores in business.

Good, KK's "doughnuts" (and I use that term loosly) were disgusting. Little fried-lard gutbombs...

It's not the yogis and shirtless Cali-types...we still have something like the most donut-shops per capita. It's that we have seen the light that KK's are gross!

I must agree. Krispy Kreme are all right, but honestly, they don't compare to the Vanilla Kreme of a Dunkin' Donuts.

I hope they won't let the door hit them in the rear on the way out of SoCal. Krispy Kremes are pointless. They're sugar surrounded by air. Who needs 'em?

Fie on *all* donut chains, Dunkin', Krispy and otherwise! Should one decide to have a donut (a monumental decision to be sure), I see no need to indulge in mere mediocrity; search out the local hole-in-the-wall, the family-owned establishment that's open at weird hours and attracts ravenous herds of college students with the munchies.
Such was Helen's Donuts in Chico, California. The plump blueberry cake donuts, lightly glazed; the hefty-yet-featherlight buttermilk bars; and the ethereal, non-greasy apple fritters. The stuff of which my dreams are made.
To this day, Helen's have been the only apple fritter I have eaten in one sitting.

are you kidding me?! who doesn't like Krispy Kreme donuts! They are like the best donuts ever made! Who cares if they have alot of cholesterol in them. Oh wait that's only the people who sit on their butt all day watching TV and blaming fast food franchises for their weight/health problems. It's not Krispy Kremes fault people are getting fat it's their own fault because they are the ones that choose to eat their donuts! I eat donuts all the time and I only weigh barewly 110, I'm 5'7in and I EXERCISE. If you think Krispy Kreme donuts are disgusting, you need some serious smacking.
