I imagine that there are people in the world who
eat Miracle Whip otherwise it wouldn't have so much coveted supermarket shelf space. But, what I want to know is:
who? Who are the people that buy the Miracle Whip? 'Cuz, in my opinion, it's the most disgusting
condiment ever created. It's even grosser than Kraft "Sandwich Spread" or green ketchup. It calls itself a "salad dressing," but I
couldn't imagine glopping it on to a salad. (It almost makes me gag just thinking about it.) Miracle Whip looks like mayonnaise, but it's so not. Upon close inspection, it is dotted with grains of paprika—that is one way to tell that it is not mayonnaise. The other way is to (blerf) taste it. It is tongue-meltingly tangy and overly cloying at the same time. Once you taste it, it is impossible to remove the after-taste from your mouth. It coats your tongue with its saccharine unpleasantness...blech. Totally heave-making. I just can't see how its overpowering sweetness would add anything to any dish in which it is used. But I know you Miracle Whip-lovers are out there. So tell me, why do you like it? And what do you eat it on...er, with?

I'm sure this came about during an add campaign back in the 50's, when commercialism began to take a foothold in households. I keep a jar of both in my fridge, and use them equally, depending on my tastes at the time.

Miracle Whip adds that little tangy zip to a boring sandwich. I guess it's like the French say...chacun se gout(each to his own).

I grew up with Best Foods, except for those times when my mama made trips "back home" [to North Carolina] and returned with a couple jars of Duke's stashed in her suitcase. Unfortunately, we can't get it out here, so to whoever mentioned Duke's in an earlier post: You're one lucky gentleman!

I heard it on the Food Network. Go blame then.

However, that's the only time of of year we use it. As a matter of fact I think I still have the jar of MW in my fridge from last year, scary.

I threw it out every time I found it in the refrigerator because I hate it. It seemed that the younger they were the more likely they loved their MW - they grew up with it and wanted to continue to use it.
I think it is overly sweet - another example of too much sugar in everyday foods. I'm a mayo fan.

Now MW ithas that tangy zip just makes your sandwich good. mayo and sandwich spread should be DISCONTINUED''' and never made again. Just imagine bologna on white bread with sandwich spread! UH! When I make potato salad though, I do use Mayo, but to use Mayo on a sandwich or toast makes me ill. I am the only one out of my family (5 kids and parents) who like it though. My mother always had mayo in our house but once I bought miracle whip I was hooked
