Yesterday I made bread. Again.
The recipe for Pain de Mie in the hugely popular Baking With Passion by Lepard and Whittington includes a semolina topping that is also subjected to the wonders of yeast. As you can see in the picture this topping gives a wonderful crackled look and adds a delicious crunchiness to the whole loaf. The bread itself is rich and soft which went beautifully with the goats cheese salad (which in itself I made again as I enjoyed it so much) and for breakfast with lashings of Lemon Curd.
I must say that of the many recipes I have followed in this book not one has been a total disaster. Ok so the lemon butter cookies and the parmesan biscuits lacked a little in dainty good looks but this bread is delicious. I haven't posted about the carrot cake recipe on slashfood yet but that too is a winner - quite involved but the best I have ever eaten.
So my recommendation if you haven't treated yourself to a new cook book for a while is to grab Baking With Passion in the sales.
