Top Food Porn Blogs For 2005

Hazelnuts by NordljusWhile I realise that the 'official' foodie blog awards are running on Accidential Hedonist I thought I would just mention my persoanal 'Scribbler Photo Awards' for 2005. (Everyone and his mum is doing it; so why can't I!).

These three blogs, in my opinion, are all deserving of high recognition in the art of photography coupled with interesting writing.

I love the style of Monkey Gland (don't ask!) writing at Jam Face. The posts are not 'just' food porn but the excellent photography is enlivened by short food writings., Not recipes but snippets of 'life' - restaurant visits, food shopping, explanations of little things.... I love it.

Without this turning into a mutual appreciation society I am also a fan of Stephen Cooks. His latest series of Christmas menus is deserving of a Best Post award. But the images always make me want to try and replicate them or at least gets me thinking how he did it or where/how the lighting is set-up. The writing too is very good.

Finally, a familiar blog to many is Nordljus. I could never hope to recreate the dishes that Keiko details. She has such style, the dishes, mostly dainty intricate desserts, need a feminine touch and I am all thumbs (and a bloke) and more inclinde to rusticity and chunkiness . But it was Keiko - who incidently has survived two meet-ups with me and copious amounts of alcohol - who inspired me to get back 'into' photography a couple of months ago after a long haiatus. I even brought the same camera as her...

There are so many other blogs that utilise glorious photogaphs to the full. Perhaps next year the list will be totally different.
