Mincemeat is a mixture of dried fruit, candied fruit, nuts and spices, bound together with butter or some other fat and positively drenched in alcohol. It is typically stuffed into sweet little pies around the holidays. Masak-Masak's Star-Topped Mince Pies, for example, would be a wonderfully traditional addition to a Christmas meal. Included in her post is a recipe for the light and flaky pie crust she used both for the base and for the star toppers. Since she is located in Malaysia, these pies were constructed in tropical weather quite unlike what some of us experience around this time of year. If you've ever had problems with pie dough, you'll know what a feat this must have been, but from the look of it, it was worth every minute of effort.
