Pop. Coke. Soda. Call your soft drinks what you will. I gave up arguing with my Midwestern friends a long time ago about how it wasn’t “pop,” it was “soda.” If, however, you still think that certain regions of the U.S. need to be converted to the “correct” nomenclature, here’s a map with a county-by-county breakdown to show you who you need to convince. Designed by Matthew T. Campbell of the Spatial Graphics and Analysis Lab in the Department of Cartography and Geography at Oklahoma’s East Central University, the info displayed is based on the responses of over 120 thousand people. Clicking a state will bring up the figures for each of its counties.
The map is part of PopvsSoda.com, a survey site designed to gather info about what people call their soft drinks in various regions of the U.S.
