Friday on Luxist I wrote about the change to the marketing slogan for Beaujolais Nouveau, the wine that is released around the world on the third Thursday in November each year. This year in an effort to widen the appeal they changed the slogan from French to English. I'll admit it, each year, I pick up a bottle of the fresh juice even though logically I know it's all a marketing scheme (hey, they say it brings good luck, I need good luck). I grabbed a bottle of the brilliantly colored Georges Dubeouf which lures the eye from giant displays at local grocery stores. This wine is completely over-the-top fruity. It's a bit like a hyper-adorable puppy jumping into your lap, both charming and a little overwhelming. Folks seem to be high on this year's Beaujolais which is seen as a good omen for the 2005 vintage as a whole. Given the taste of this wine I'd say that the 2005 vintage will definitely be a flavorful one.Do you Beaujolais?
