Exotic meat on the menu at zoo buffet

lionWildlife advocates are up in arms about a Thai zoo's plans to serve an exotic meat buffet at a zoo opening.  Yahoo News reports that guests at the grand opening of the Chiang Mai Night Safari Zoo in northern Thailand will be treated to a buffet that includes tiger, lion, elephant and giraffe. Guests  will pay 4,500 baht ($110) for the buffet that will serve everything from dog meat from to lion meat. The article also mentions that Kenya has said that it will give Thailand 175 wild animals, including African buffalo, various species of antelope, zebra and giraffe as a diplomatic gift.I'm never sure what to think about stories like this. On the one hand, I am against serving rare animals up for the titillation of the palate, but on the other hand I feel like a bit of a hypocrite since I eat meat and the culinary adventurer in me is more than a bit curious about these rarities.
