Slashfood Ate (8): Foods loved in one form, hated in another

anchoviesYou know the deal. There are certain foods that you just absolutely love, but if they're put in a different form, you can't stand them. Maybe you love french fries, but hate baked potatoes. Maybe you love coffee ice cream, but a cup of coffee makes you gag.

Below is my list of foods I love, and at the same time, hate when they are changed a bit.

  1. Love peas, hate pea soup.
  2. Love carrots, hate carrot juice.
  3. Love yams, hate sweet potatoes (not sure why).
  4. Love low-fat milk, hate whole milk (can't drink the stuff anymore - tastes like thick cream to me now).
  5. Love prunes, hate prune juice.
  6. Love Caesar salad, hate anchovies.
  7. Love tomatoes/tomato sauce, hate tomato juice.
  8. Love clams, hate clam chowder.

What's on your list?

and really you don't like chowder? maybe it is the cream thing.

I also hate almost all cooked greens. Spinach, arugula, collard, etc. But I'm ok with them raw in their younger forms. I do love a good spinach or arugula salad.

Obviously you can find vegan or vegetarian caesar dressings, but they're not the norm. My homemade dressing involves both wor. sauce and four anchovies (minced). I don't top with anchovies.

Sweet Potatoes and Yams (real yams) are not the same thing. Some people call sweet potatoes yams, due to their similarity to real yams.

Tomatoes: good in pasta sauces and on pizzas. Elsewhere? No dice.

And you hit the nail on the head: I don't drink hot coffee. I'll drink iced coffee and I love coffee ice cream. I also like eating chocolate itself, but never chocolate pudding, chocolate cake, or chocolate ice cream. Brownies are good though.

seriously, though, I agree with the tomotoes. I love tomato sauce if it is smooth (and no skins), but anything with chunky tomato, I cannot stand.
