Thanksgiving, East Indian Style

subrosa - east indian thanksgivingPerhaps you've just been busy and haven't had time yet to start planning. Maybe you're just lazy and would rather watch the chefs on tv show you for the 19th time how to truss and roast a bird. Or perhaps, after so many years of the same five foods on the Thanksgiving table, you feel...uninspired.

Though our traditional Thanksgiving meal is based on the foods and flavors that American Indians shared with the Pilgrims, Sub Rosa, a Dundee, Oregon-based virtual restaurant and underground wine bar, has put together a Thanksgiving menu based on East Indian tastes and flavors. "Spice wise, it is not that hard to make the bridge from our traditional Thanksgiving dinner to an East Indian Thanksgiving meal."

Sub Rosa'a menu includes recipes, one of which is a Cumin and Coriander Spice-Rubbed Turkey that sounds awesome, as well as suggestions for wine-pairings with the East Indian flavored dishes. They also provide links to streams of Indian music - a little something to get your Bombay Boogie on in the kitchen.
