Hong Kong Thieves Steal Hairy Crabs

hairycrabs They're not the prettiest things I've ever seen but they are a delicacy in Hong Kong. The AP reports that a thief stole 70 hairy crabs from a Hong Kong shop. The crabs, a fall delicacy, were worth about $1,280. The smart thieves left other less valuable crabs behind. It's not just the legs of the crabs that are worth the experience, according to this guide the body. including the intenstines and the fat sac, are not to be missed.

One of my favorite oolongs is Mao Xie--"Hairy Crab"--and I've always wondered if the name has the slight ick-factor for folks in China as it does for some Americans. Apparently not!
