Eating Behind the Wheel

driving We've all done it, the driving meal, one hand on the wheel, one hand involved in the face shoving. Newsday has a piece on the culinary life behind the wheel which is changing American food. Yogurt in squeeze tubes, cereal and milk in one bar and mini versions of Cheetos and Doritos in cupholder friendly tubs are just some of the products designed for life on the go. For fast food, drive-through is a huge part of their business. How many people eat in their cars? No one is really sure but one thing is clear, the number is rising fast. One thing that can be agreed on it is that in general, behind-the-wheel cuisine is not the healthiest stuff in the world. A spokeswoman from the American Dietetic Association recommends taking carrot sticks or a PB & J along for the ride.

But hey, it was a freshly backed blueberry pie made from freshly picked blueberries! How can I resist?

It was the most delicious slice of pie I've ever had. Though I don't think I'll ever do it again. =)
