New mag review: Every Day with Rachael Ray in 60 seconds

  • Every Day With Rachael RayRachael Ray: you either love her or you hate her. She's published a ton of books and has approximately 47 shows on The Food Network. And now, she has her own magazine! If the first issue is any indication, it's going to be one of the best food mags out there. I'm already hooked.
  • Lots of great regular features, including a handy recipe index in the front, a guide to what gifts to buy for your favorite cook, and a Ready, Set section, which is short tidbits to help people with their cooking. This first issue has a great checklist of what you should always have in your cupboard and fridge.
  • Features in this issue include a guide to shopping from veteran marketing guru Paco Underhill, and lots of holiday articles: the best beers, wines, and cocktails for Thanksgiving, the favorite holiday recipes of cooks, buying the best turkey pan, Rachael's favorite NYC hoilday places, recipes for Bowl game meals, and how to throw a great holiday party.
  • A peak inside Whoopi Goldberg's fridge (note: didn't some other mag do this recently??). She loves Yoo-Hoo and prosciutto.
  • It's Ray, so you know there are going to be some 30 minute meals: Christmas Pasta, Pumpkin Polenta with Chorizo and Black Beans, Blueberry Cobbler, and Cheddar-Crusted Chicken with Smooshy Applesauce.

As for Rachael, I should have looked for her mag while I was out today -- it'd be worth flipping through. Maybe even subscribing as one of the things that does bug me about her show is her cutesy sayings -- perhaps they'd be easier to take in print.
