Infusing vodka

pear vodka Over at I'm Mad and I Eat, Cookie Crumb has this gorgeous picture of her most recent infused vodka, a golden pear and cucumber mix. She also has some other great ideas like strawberry, sage and black pepper. As we've seen recently many herbs make excellent infused vodkas. On their website, Fris Vodka also has a wide variety of infusion recipes including one with cranberries, allspice berries, cloves and other flavors that would make a gorgeous cocktail for a holiday party.

10-19-2005 @12:59PM Tony said... I've done straight cranberry before & it's great for the holidays. I've got to try some more complex flavor combos now - they sound really good. I've also made a jalepeno & garlic infused vodka for making bloody marys - really tasty!

I have a friend who does gummi bear infused vodka, which he insists is fantastic. Not only do the gummis flavor and color the vodka, but they also gave you vodka-soaked gummi bear candies to chew on that have swelled to 5-6 times their original size.

His only cautionary note is that it's preferable NOT to mix flavors. He says the result doesn't taste bad, but the mix produces a less-than-appealing brown color.

10-19-2005 @2:08PM Tony said... Along the lines of gummy bear-infused vodka, I've heard that Jolly Rancher infused vodka is also awesome. And again, I believe the one flavor rule is also in effect here. I'd like to try a Swedish fish flavor.
