The Cincinnati Enquirer recently ran a story about what types of candy trick-or-treaters prefer. Notice that I said candy. That’s because, according to this article, kids DO NOT like to see fruit, chips, pretzels, cookies, granola or toys dropped into their buckets. What a shock. The number one candy on their list is Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, followed by Snickers, Hershey’s and M&M’s.
A nutritionist quoted in the article says that candy is ok in moderation, but that she also gives out things like stickers, juice boxes and toothbrushes. Yes, tooth brushes.
If there were ever an indicator for when we make the jump from childhood to adulthood, this is it. This Halloween is your chance to prove not only to the little hoodlums in your neighborhood, but also to yourself, that you’re still a kid at heart. Don’t you dare give some kid a toothbrush. And if you do, you'd better scrub those eggs of your car before they dry.
It should also be noted that candy corn was not specifically mentioned anywhere in the list of things that kids want. That is because it is repulsive.
