Well, it would appear that people just can’t get enough of baked goods shaped like body parts. First the bread body parts, then the corpse cake, and now these Halloween cookies shaped like fingers. I guess this could be traced back to the ginger bread man, or lady fingers, or some sort of biblical-host something-or-other, but it probably goes back farther than that.
At any rate, the person who posted these cookies on Recipezaar.com called them “severed fingers Halloween cookies” and credited them to Martha Stewart. I searched around and found other recipes for them attributed to Martha, but all had names like “finger shaped cookies” or “witch’s finger cookies.” Recipezaar is the only one I found that has a connotation of dismemberment. Which one would you make?

I would answer the door either with one in my mouth, or holding one then proceed to nibble on it. Lots of very WIDE eyes that evening!
