I consider myself a typical American male, and as a typical American male, I eat a lot of prepackaged meals and frozen dinners. Soups, frozen pizza, chicken rondelets, you name it. And when it comes to frozen dinners, I've probably eaten every single type of frozen dinner you can imagine. Well, except for anything that has weird seafood in it.
Anyway, I have discovered the single best frozen dinner ever produced by anyone at anytime. And now I'll share it with you.
I started my "health routine" earlier this year, and I wanted to start eating a lot better while still buying foods that are convenient. I noticed the Smart Ones and Healthy Choice lines of food, right next to the classic Lean Cuisine brand. It's amazing how frozen foods have progressed from the Swanson TV dinner days.
So I bought a mix of Smart Ones dinners and Healthy Choice dinners, and most of them were pretty good (if a bit small). But the best, by far, was the Smart Ones Fire-Grilled Chicken and Vegetables. If someone cooked this for you and then put it on a plate, maybe with a garnish, you'd never know it was from the supermarket. The chicken is fantastic, real and meaty and tasty, and the vegetables and rice are really crisp and tangy and nice. I now eat this meal at least once a week.
Of course, I make three boxes for one meal, so I think I just took out the smart and healthy part of the meal, but still...this stuff is great!

Several people at my office, including myself, eat Smart Ones for lunch. Whether they are on Weight Watchers or just wanting something quick to pop in the microwave, they eat 'em. I like the Tuna Gratin, and a lot of their Bistro selections are pretty tasty too. I tried the turkey and mashed potatoes once, keeping in mind that it was not going to be like Thanksgiving dinner. However, the meat was tasty, and the potatoes weren't watery (as i thought they might be) and with the gravy supplied, the meal was pretty darn good. No Thanksgiving dinner, but yummy regardless.

I haven't tried Smart Ones (not sure these are available in Canada), but they'd have to be very good to beat Lean Cuisine's Mango Chicken Curry.
