Baylor University is conservative. How conservative? So much so that they pulled Cup #43 in Starbucks' The Way I See It campaign from the campus Starbucks outlet. #43 is a quote from Armistead Maupin on being gay. Christian groups opposing the cup say Starbucks is promoting a gay agenda, and this isn't the first time the coffee company has been attacked by conservatives for the cups' liberal bent.
Some coffee drinkers protest, saying it's a free speech issue; others say that you can vote with your dollars. Still others say Starbucks has no right to impose their views on their customers. I say, make your decision about Starbucks based on the coffee.
Starbucks cups provoke furor among conservatives

10-05-2005 @3:22PM Sir Not Appearing in this Blog said... I'm reasonably conservative (Christian, too! eek!) and I don't really see what the big deal is. He's not saying, "Go out and be homosexual!" It sounds to me like he's saying, "Carpe diem!"
There's always going to be someone out there who doesn't like what you have to say. Isn't it wonderful that we have the first amendment there to protect us from the idiots with nothing better to do than worry about what other people are saying?

10-07-2005 @2:05PM Greg said... A friend of mine got one of these cups, and with the cardboard holder on, the only part you can see is "My only regret about being gay is that I repressed it so long." We didn't realize there was more until later.
We both cracked up.... It was funny at the time.

I don't want god on my food any more than you don't want gay on yours. So uh, don't go to Starbucks and get a Chantico. I mean, 'shan tee co'. That's like a pomeranian or track lighting.
I don't know what I'm saying any more.
