Ever the beer innovators, two university professors in Germany have invented a drink coaster than knows when its glass is empty. Better yet, it can alert your bartender and order you another beer. Andreas Butz of the University of Munich and Michael Schmitz of Saarland University apparently came up with the idea while out hoisting a few with some students.
Each coaster costs about $100 to make, so that might be an issue. However, the inventors say that with mass demand, the price could go down.
Still, lets not rule out the need for a bartender who notices when your glass is getting empty. Also, lets hope for a bartender that can pour a better beer than the one you see here.
