Chocolate Covered Bacon

chocolateCoveredBaconSS"Tastes Like Someone Crapped In My Mouth"

Well I could have told you that, love! I ask you 'chocolate covered bacon...' ! But that is exactly what Kevin from Southeastern, MI has blogged about. Complete with illustrated step-by-step instructions.  His preamble does mention that "maybe bacon and chocolate aren’t supposed to be combined? Maybe combining them could start the apocalypse? "

More worryingly he also states in red capitals (like we wouldn't notice) proceed with Extreme Caution.

Thanks to Mike for this hilarious link.

It's not quite as much of a stretch, but for Iron Chef Bacon earlier this month (http://dmnkly.livejournal.com/23781.html), our dessert was a Sweet Bacon Parfait. It had a Bacon-Apple sorbet and strips of candied bacon, along with a few other goodies. It turned out GREAT. And we ditched a bunch of other bacon dessert ideas in favor of this one. I'm firmly of the opinion that bacon is underused as a dessert ingredient.

This has been around for a few years now.

The Mill Stone in Doncaster, South Yorks, England has had this since at least 1995 (had it at a works do).

The secret is DARK chocolate, and I believe the chef who introduced this to the restaurant (not saying he invented it full stop, but was the first to bring it to the restaurant), also is responsible for Chocolate soup.
