Ever entered a cooking contest? I never have but find myself fascinated especially when the prize is large. Linda Morten from Katy, Texas recently took home $50,000 as the "Best of Beef" winner at the National Beef Cook-Off in Rapid City, South Dakota on September 21, 2005. Morten’s $50,000 winning recipe was for Blazin’ Colorado Steaks which has a lime juice and chipotle pepper marinade and a sauce of canned chiles, whipping cream, sour cream and cilantro. Other recipes in the contest won $5,000 and $10,000 in various categories. Wow, I've got to start looking into these contests.
