The Monopoly Restaurant

monopolyGo directly to jail and eat lunch? That's the plan for the old Salem Jail site in Massachusetts. Backers are seeking to create a Monopoly restaurant in the town where the Parker Brothers company began.  "Monopoly ... The Restaurant,"  would be a theme restaurant set up to look like an old-fashioned bank with white pillars. Diners would be welcomed by an animated Mr. Moneybags on a plasma screen and pass by tables with names like "Short Line Railroad" or reserve "jail" a table for two behind a cell door. The restaurant idea is one of nine proposals set to be reviewed Wednesday by the Salem Redevelopment Authority, which is trying to find a developer for the old Salem Jail site. I hope they do it. After all, the town needs something more than the witch thing to rely on to attract tourists.
