Popcorn toppings

popcorn Looking for something new to put on popcorn? You’re not alone. Ask Metafilter has a thread with dozens of ideas about ways to dress up your kernels.

Some of the more interesting ideas I saw on there were chipotle powder, Old Bay (they say it’s “orgasmic), and garam masala.

Orange zest and black pepper, together, was another one I hadn’t thought of. Although I do recall an old episode of a Jamie Oliver show where he made seasoned popcorn salt with orange zest.

I could see smoked paprika being a good addition as well. The hot/sweet combination seemed popular too, with people suggesting cayenne or cinnamon with sugar.

A few people suggested wet seasonings like balsamic vinegar or hot sauce. Wouldn't that make the popcorn soggy?

Melt some butter, whisk in some honey, and drizzle over the corn. Then season with curry powder, a bit of unsweetened cocoa powder and a generous hit of salt.

Trust me.
