My good buddy Jaime can tell you how I lusted after egg cups in three different countries to which we travelled together before I finally selected two lovely stoneware varieties in Quebec City. I'm thoroughly in love with egg cups; if I ever decide to collect things, these will be the ones. And I know I have a friend in egg cups, even if I can't tell you exactly where he's from... because his blog is in Spanish. The language barrier hasn't stopped me from reading his blog religiously, of course. He calls them "hueveras" and professes to be hypnotized by them since (I think) 1970. My inexpert translation of his treatise on hueveras: they are the perfect equilibrium between design and functionality. He posts a different egg cup every day (hence the title of his blog) and I found this one particularly fetching.
Egg cups and the people who love them

The blog is seemingly a family affair. The sidebar tells the story of how the wife, mjfuster, was looking through her grandfather's kitchen cabinet when she was bored and discovered egg cups, stealing one. Then it goes on to tell how her husband, mother in law, and even two sons are now involved in building the collection. They seem to be based in Brussels based on the P.O. Box info at the bottom of the page.
I've always thought of egg cups as fancy, but there are some quite fun ones there.
