Sushi art

sushi panda
On the heels of an earlier post about Japanese hot dog art come some fine examples of sushi art.

And wouldn’t you know it, those little cocktail hot dogs show up a few times here as well. Unfortunately, none of them appear to be fashioned into jungle animals.

If anybody wants to help identify some of the components of these sushi renderings, it’d be appreciated. I’m curious as to what that pink think in the lower left corner is—not so much what it’s made of, but what it is supposed to be.

Then starting at the top and going clockwise, pinapple, Katzu, the hot dogs aforementioned, wasabi paste, looks like carrot for the flower/ bow tie, quite likely the pickled egg that the previous commenter mentioned then fried egg, and lastly a cherry with stem. I may be wrong about a couple items, but that is a very likely representation.

The components are, clockwise from the upper left:

nori - seaweed (the ears, eyes and hands)
chiizu - Cheese (the pupils)
ringu no gurasse - Apple glac? (though apple is ringo, not ringu...a typo, perhaps?)
tonkatsu - breaded pork cutlet
uinnaa - wiener
hamu - Ham (the little blush on the cheeks)
shiso - this doesn't translate...shiso is a leaf used in Japanese cooking - http://www.gardenguides.com/seedcatalog/herbs/shisoperillared.htm
poteto sarada - Potato salad
ninjin - carrot (not to be confused with ningen, human)
uzura no tamago - quail's egg
tamagoyaki - fried egg...obviously a bit of scrambled eggs
cherii - cherry

Hope that helps!
