Browsing this month’s Gourmet—“The Music Issue”—I came across a small blurb about food toxicologist and musician Dr. Carl K. Winter, Ph.D. Aside from having 18 years at UC Davis under his belt, Winter brings his messages of food safety to the masses through songs, specifically parodies. He turns The Drifters’ “Under the Boardwalk” into “A Case of
Norwalk” and The Beatle’s “I Want To Hold Your Hand” into “You Better
Wash Your Hands.” On his site you can find dozens of audio clips, as well as a few videos of his performances at a health convention in 2000. Truly, this is one of the most amazing things I’ve seen all day.
