Hershey's buys Joseph Schmidt Chocolates

schmidt mosaicsIt's like Hershey went through my list of favorite California chocolatiers. First they snapped up Scharffen Berger now they have picked up Joseph Schmidt, a Northern California company that specializes in truffles and  uniquely-colored mosaic chocolates. Joseph Schmidt will join Scharffen Berger under the umbrella of Artisan Confections, a subsidiary of the large candy company. The combined price for both companies will be between $46.6 and $61.1 million. I know it's wrong of me but I'm sort of excited about this if it means it will be easier for me to get my hands on the Schmidt mosaics.
